WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 23 May 2021
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
Ephesians 2:19-20
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. What we are NOT
a) We are no longer strangers
b) We are no longer foreigners
This are glorious truths to rejoice in greatly!
2. What we ARE
a) Fellow citizens with the saints
i) With all who are sanctified
ii) Those who have died and are in heaven
ii) Those who are still alive on earth
b) Members of the household of God
i) What a privilege to be part of God’s house
ii) We are wonderfully blessed!
3. Strong foundations
a) The Lord Jesus Christ
i) He has the most honoured place
ii) He is the chief cornerstone
b) The Apostles and prophets
i) They are the pioneers
ii) They are the teachers
iii) They are the writers
4. The Church is built
a) On solid rock
b) On the Lord Jesus Christ Himself
c) The gates of Hades cannot prevail
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. The Building of the Church
a) The foundations have been laid
b) The work is on-going
This work cannot and will not stop till the Lord Jesus returns
2. Vital Work
a) Of the Holy Spirit
b) Of God’s faithful servants
i) Pastors
ii) Church members
iii) Supporters
3. A renewed commitment
a) Let us do our part faithfully
b) Let us renew our commitment to serve faithfully and fruitfully
